The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) helps students earn college credit for prior learning.

If you are interested in taking the CLEP to earn credit at Casper College for prior learning, be sure to make an appointment with a Student Success Counselor before scheduling with the Testing Center to take the exam. We want to be sure the CLEP is right for you. Check out the CLEP info guide for more details.

Please visit College Board to learn more about specific test information, practice tests, and study materials.

Format of test:

This is a computer-based exam. Most questions are multiple-choice, but a few may contain other formats such as essays. There are two tests for Spanish, one with a writing section and one without. Casper College awards credit for the exam without writing.

Time limit:

Exams are 90-minutes long.

ID requirement:

A valid government-issued photo ID.

Registration ticket:

You must purchase the $93 CLEP registration ticket online at College Board and present the ticket to the Testing Center on the day of testing.

For those who are not Casper College students, there is a $25 test administration fee which must be paid at the cashiers’ window in the Walter H. Nolte Gateway Center. Please bring the receipt to your testing appointment.

A BOCES grant has been established to pay all CLEP fees for students in Natrona County schools who have mastered college-level coursework in a foreign language. Please call the testing center for more information – 307-268-3850.

Results are available immediately after completion of the exam.
