Crisis/Issues communications
Strategic Communications and Marketing coordinates communications during incidents or issues that may affect campus operations, safety, or reputation. The department also leads emergency notifications that may delay our ability to respond immediately to a crisis. In these situations:
- We work with leadership and relevant authorities to confirm facts
- We provide timely updates through official channels
- We prioritize accuracy over speculation

For Casper College employees
If you receive a media request:
- Do not provide an official statement unless you are an authorized spokesperson
- Refer the reporter to Strategic Communications and Marketing
- Notify our office promptly with the reporter’s name, outlet, topic, and deadline

Who is the best contact for media inquiries?
Casper College’s Strategic Communications and Marketing team coordinates media inquiries, interviews, official statements, and media access to campus.

Who can speak on behalf of Casper College?
Official statements on behalf of the institution are coordinated through Strategic Communications and Marketing in collaboration with appropriate college leadership and subject-matter experts. If a reporter contacts an employee directly, we ask employees to refer the request to Strategic Communications and Marketing.
Can I interview students?
Student interviews may be possible but require coordination to protect privacy and ensure participation is voluntary. Please submit requests through Strategic Communications and Marketing and allow time for coordination.
Are there any restrictions on filming in classrooms or student areas?
Yes. Filming in classrooms or in areas where students may reasonably expect privacy generally requires advance approval and coordination. We also take steps to ensure student privacy and minimize disruption to learning and operations.
What if there’s an emergency or active incident?
For emergencies, call 911 immediately. During incidents that affect campus operations, safety, or reputation, Strategic Communications and Marketing coordinates updates through official channels and responds to media inquiries as accurate information becomes available.
How do I confirm facts, data, or institutional information?
For verification of institutional information (program details, enrollment facts, major announcements, policy questions), contact Strategic Communications and Marketing. We will coordinate with the appropriate office to confirm accuracy.
Where should media park and check in?
Parking and access vary by event and location. Contact Strategic Communications and Marketing in advance and we will provide the best parking/check-in guidance for your visit. Parking on the Casper College campus is free. Some typical parking restrictions exist and include signs indicating the restriction. Fire lanes are indicated with red traffic paint and are restricted from visitor parking.
Do I need credentials or permission to cover a campus event?
Most events are open to the public; others may require advance permission. If you plan to cover an event, contact Strategic Communications and Marketing so we can confirm access and help coordinate interviews or photo opportunities. Media covering athletic events may use their company identification to enter athletic events free-of-charge.
