The Casper College Active Life Club will host a free 5K color run at Casper College on Friday, May 8, beginning at 6 p.m.

According to Joseph Meeks, club sponsor and business instructor, runners can arrive at the Casper College Student Union and the University of Wyoming at Casper building around 5:30 p.m. The run will follow the same 5K course as the Casper College Alumni Association’s T-Bird Trek in the fall.

“The color run is a run that is more for fun than competition,” said Meeks. Runners running the course will have colored powder thrown at them about every half mile. The Casper College Active Life Club will provide all registered runners with a white T-shirt. “One idea is to get your T-shirt wet before the run, so the colored powder stains the shirt better,” noted Meeks.

The club uses the color run as a fun way to conclude the current spring semester. “The atmosphere at this type of event is usually fun, upbeat, and a great way for students to engage with each other, Casper College employees, and the community,” said Meeks. “Many of our students will be graduating the following Friday, so we hope this is a great send-off for them as they continue their life journey elsewhere,” he added.

Participating in the color run is free, but each runner is asked to register at the club’s Active.com site. For more information, contact Meeks at joseph.meeks@caspercollege.edu or 307-267-1061.

The Union/University building is located on the lower part of the Casper College campus and is home to the school’s Dick and Marialyce Tobin Dining Hall.
