Casper College Women’s Soccer player Kendra Michael has signed to play with NCAA Division I school Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. The Bulldogs went 13-4-3 last year and play in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Michael played her sophomore year for the Thunderbirds as a goalkeeper, playing in eight games with eight starts and amassing a record of 8-0-0. She had a 0.47 goals against average, three shutouts, 17 saves, and three goals against. Michael played a total of 575 minutes in the goal.

Originally from Gillette, Michael played for Thunder Basin High School. “This year, the team voted her biggest supporter for the season,” said Jocelyn Norcross, women’s assistant coach. “Kendra is a great teammate and leader. Even after only being here a semester, she left a lasting mark on CC women’s soccer, and we are excited to see her take her talents to the D1 level,” Norcross added.

According to Norcross, Michael has always wanted to play at a DI school since high school, and when Drake offered her a spot on the team as a goalkeeper beginning this spring, she made the decision to leave Casper at the end of the 2023 fall semester. Michael is signing her letter of intent in Casper because, noted Norcross, “The team means a lot to her.”

The spring semester begins Jan. 29 at Drake.
