All adventurers are urged to explore caves and more at the 2026 Tate Cave Crawl Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The excitement and adventure will include 150 linear feet of tunnels to explore, a cave rescue using a real stretcher, a vertical caving tower, and bat biology games, all at no charge.
According to Dalene Hodnett, director of museums, participants of all ages are welcome to this exciting CaveSim event, sponsored by Barb Bentzin and Bob Montgomery.
The day will also feature four informative talks: “The Ethics of Cave Gating” by Julia Yearout at 11 a.m.; “A Half Century of Cave Exploration” by Montgomery at noon; “Cave Formation” by Marron Bingle Davis, Ph.D., at 1 p.m.; and “Organized Caving: Beyond the Daylight” by Savannah Sawyer and Carl Frosile at 2.
The 2026 Tate Cave Crawl will take place at the Tate Geological Museum, located at the southern end of the Casper College campus, near the T. rex sculpture.
