Casper-Natrona County Health Department and Casper College form partnership to expand COVID-19 testing locations in Casper
The Casper-Natrona County Health Department and Casper College announced today that they have partnered to offer Natrona County residents another option to receive testing for COVID-19.
Casper-Natrona County Health Department Director Anna Kinder said, “We have been looking at ways to expand testing for COVID-19 to make it more available as well as more convenient. The partnership with Casper College makes it possible for us to continue testing through the winter months in a covered and convenient facility located in central Casper.”
Beginning Monday, Sept. 14, the Casper-Natrona County Health Department will offer COVID-19 testing at Casper College’s Fire Science Training Center located at 800 College Drive across from Mike Sedar Park. This new location will offer drive-thru service where those wishing to be tested can do so without leaving their vehicle. The Fire Science Training Center offers a way for people to escape the weather in a convenient and enclosed drive-thru facility.
Those residents with symptoms or confirmed exposure to someone who has tested positive are asked to first call the COVID-19 hotline at the Casper-Natrona County Health Department to complete a pre-screening call and set up an appointment for testing at 307-577-9892.
The new testing location will be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition, the Casper-Natrona County Health Department currently offers COVID-19 testing at its primary location at 475 S. Spruce Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours at each location may be adjusted as necessary to meet demand. All COVID-19 testing performed by the Casper-Natrona County Health Department is free-of-charge.
The testing location will be operated by the Casper-Natrona County Health Department, and it will also benefit students learning at Casper College. Both nursing and paramedic students at Casper College will be assisting with testing at the new location under the oversight of a registered nurse with the Casper-Natrona County Health Department.
“We’re so pleased with our partnership with CNCHD. Not only have they been integral to helping us with our plans to reopen campus, but now we can build on that relationship to offer Natrona County residents a new testing location that will benefit the entire county in many ways,” said Casper College President Darren Divine.
Brandon Kosine, vice president for academic affairs, added, “This is a great opportunity for our students to provide a service to the community while also learning in their classes.”
