Gunnare selected for third year

Casper College’s Women’s Basketball Head Coach, Dwight Gunnare, has been named the North sub-Region Coach of the Year in Region IX for the 2019-2020 year and for the third year in a row.

“I am honored to receive this award from my coaching peers because there are a lot of very talented coaches in Region IX,” said Gunnare. “I also believe this is a recognition for my assistant coach, Nate Macy, for all the hard work he puts into our program,” noted Gunnare.

In January, Gunnare earned his 300th win at Casper College when the Lady T-Birds defeated the Sheridan Lady Generals 92-33 in Thunderbird Gym.

The No. 15 ranked Lady Thunderbirds will take on the McCook Community College Lady Indians (22-9) in the first round of the Women’s Region IX Basketball Tournament March 5. The Lady Thunderbirds host the tournament March 5-7. Currently, the team sits at 26-3 overall and finished with a 13-1 record in the North sub-Region.
