Five Casper College women’s basketball players have been recognized nationally for their academic performance during the 2016-2017 school year at Casper College.

Freshmen Emily Robertson, Casper, and Bruna Vila Artigues, Arenys de Munt, Spain, were named to the NJCAA All-Academic First Team for their 4.0 grade point average.

Sophomore Ruth Nwokora, Lagos, Nigeria, and freshman Natalia Panufnik, Wolomin, Poland, were recognized with the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team for a GPA of 3.8-3.99.

Sophomore Rebecca Taylor, Kidderminster, England, was named to the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team for earning a 3.6-3.79 GPA.

Women’s Head Basketball Coach Dwight Gunnare believes that it is a great accomplishment for his five players to receive the recognition from the NJCAA. “It illustrates their understanding of the importance of earning their degree and their ability to balance the time requirements needed for their academics as well as their extracurricular activities,” he said.

Gunnare also gave credit to the faculty at Casper College. “The willingness of the faculty to work with our student-athletes when they are required to miss class due to an extracurricular activity certainly assists with their academic success,” he noted.
