Now is the time for all current Casper College students and those planning to start next year to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known as the FAFSA.

The FAFSA is a form managed by the U.S. Department of Education. It determines a student’s eligibility for federal financial aid, including grants, loans, and work-study programs. It is a required step to gain access to these funds. Additionally, many states and colleges use FAFSA information to award their institutional scholarships and state grants. Because of this, all students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA, even those who believe they may not qualify.

“What we hope to help students understand is that filling out the FAFSA is one of the most important steps a student can take to access financial support for college,” says Melissa Roberson, financial aid counselor at Casper College.

Presently, two FAFSA forms are available: the 2025-2026 FAFSA for the current academic year, and the 2026-2027 FAFSA for the academic year beginning in fall 2026. Some types of aid are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The earlier a student submits their FAFSA, the better their chances are of receiving the aid they qualify for.

The Casper College Financial Aid Office will host a FAFSA completion event on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Walter H. Nolte Gateway Center, Room 208. Financial aid team members will be available to assist students with their FAFSA submissions. All current and prospective Casper College students are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be provided, and attendees will have a chance to enter a raffle to win scholarships for the spring 2026 semester. This free event is a great opportunity to get assistance and potentially secure additional scholarship funds.

To complete the FAFSA form on your own, visit the Federal Student Aid website. When filling out the form, be sure to use Casper College’s school code: 003928.

For assistance, contact the Casper College Financial Aid Office at 307 268-2323 or visit the enrollment services office on the third floor of the Nolte Gateway Center. The Nolte Gateway Center is located on the Casper College campus.
