June 14 registration deadline for Summer Field Science Camp June 16-20

June 14 is the registration deadline for the Summer Field Science Camp. Twenty spots remain for the five-day field science camp. The camp, hosted by Casper College, is designed for elementary students currently in the fourth or fifth grade. The camp will run June 16-20 from 8:45 a.m.-4 p.m.
According to organizer Jessie Anderson, the camp will provide field experience for students interested in science and nature. Students will participate in nature field trips to learn about the local plants, animals, rocks, and fossils. Students will visit Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park, Casper Mountain, Speas Fish Hatchery, North Platte Park/Adams Park, Eagle Ridge/Bessemer Bend, Bates Creek, and the Alcova/Pathfinder area.
“In today’s world of so many electronic distractions and so little science taught in early elementary school, it is important to introduce children to nature,” said Anderson, adding, “Our goal is to get children interested in science while giving them a more thorough understanding of their natural world.”
The registration deadline is June 14, and tuition per student is $125. Students will be provided with field guides for identification, magnifying loop and bug boxes, a field notebook, and specimen bags and vials. Some snacks and extra water will also be provided, but each camper is asked to bring a water bottle, snacks and lunch. A limited number of scholarships are available. Vans will depart and return to the Casper College campus each day. Additional information and the registration form can be found at caspercollege.edu/summer-field-science-camp.
