I started teaching nursing at Casper College in 2000 and since then have had students on the telemetry floor, long-term care, medical, surgical, and am currently teaching students at Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital. My background is in psychiatric nursing and I am currently employed in rehabilitation nursing. I earned my Master's Degree in nursing education in 2005 and I am a certified as a nurse educator through the National League for Nursing. I am currently working towards my certification as a rehabilitation RN.
I teach students in their first semester of nursing school in the clinical lab setting, learning skills necessary to function as an RN. Skills taught include nasogastric tubes, enema, sterile technique, wound care, medication administration, tracheostomy care and suctioning, and foley catheter placement. In the second semester I teach students in the clinical setting at Elkhorn Valley Rehabilitation Hospital. I also teach the didactic portion of nursing process in the classroom. In the summer I teach medical terminology online. Past courses taught include CNA, classroom Medical Terminology, Issues in Nursing online, and College Studies.
I am married to a wonderful man and am blessed with six children ranging in age from 16 to 28. We have two beautiful grandchildren. I enjoy baseball, hiking, biking, gardening, and reading.
