CC Ag Department hosts 46th Annual Lamb and Pig Sale

The 46th Annual Lamb and Pig Sale, hosted by the Casper College Agriculture Department, will be held Saturday, March 7. The sale will begin at 11 a.m. in the Grace Werner Agricultural Pavilion on the Casper College campus.

Students enrolled in the agricultural marketing course help facilitate the annual sale. According to Anne Wood, agriculture instructor, livestock designated for sale by the college is the property of the Livestock Fitting and Showing Club for sheep and the Livestock Judging Club for swine. “All proceeds from the sale of college-owned animals are allocated to their respective student organizations,” she said.

“The sale provides agricultural marketing students with essential experiential learning opportunities, allowing them to cultivate technical proficiency in the administration of both digital and in-person auction platforms and acts as a fundraiser for our student clubs,” Wood noted.

“People find this to be a great sale for high-quality livestock. Our consignors are known for breeding champions. Whether you’re a novice or a pro, there’s something for everyone,” said Wood.

Lamb consignors scheduled to attend are Bessler Club Lambs, Bower Livestock, Butler Brothers Livestock, Casper College Show Lambs, DeLong Club Lambs, Hornecker Livestock, K N K Livestock, McLaughlin Show Lambs, Mercer Livestock, and Triple G Livestock.

Pig consignors scheduled to attend are AA Livestock, Casper College Show Pigs, and Rathbun Show Pigs.

“This is really a full-circle opportunity for students to learn and engage in because last semester, many students assisted with lambing and farrowing these young animals, raised them, and are now helping find their new purpose. Many of our consignors are alumni of the Casper College Agriculture Department and are thriving in the industry.
