Casper College GEAR UP helps open doors to college admissions. GEAR UP is a federally funded initiative that helps students confidently navigate the path to higher education. With a strong emphasis on mentorship, academic readiness, and hands-on college exploration, Casper College GEAR UP is equipping students with the tools they need to succeed completely free of charge.
GEAR UP, which stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, serves eligible seventh through 12th-grade students in Natrona County by providing consistent guidance, resources, and opportunities that make college feel attainable and achievable. From campus visits and career exploration to financial aid workshops and academic support, students are immersed in experiences that build both knowledge and confidence.
At the heart of the program is mentorship. For many students, navigating the college process can feel overwhelming. Having a dedicated mentor ensures they’re not doing it alone; someone is there to guide, encourage, and advocate for them every step of the way.
Through one-on-one support and group programming, mentors help students set goals, stay on track academically, and make informed decisions about their future. These relationships often become a cornerstone of students’ success, fostering accountability and belief in their own potential.
