The Casper College Renewable Energy Technology Program has received a substantial equipment donation from Chevron Power and Energy Management Company: a Winergy gearbox from one of the company’s turbines located near Casper.

The Renewable Energy Technology program is a versatile, interdisciplinary program that offers students the opportunity to become trained in variety of technologies. The core of the program is centered on electrical power generation from wind and solar.

The program assembled produces graduates trained as instrumentation and control technicians that have a high level of mechanical skills as well as specific skills in wind and solar installations. The program allows for electives in related disciplines such as construction, business, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and information technology. All included, small wind turbines and residential solar installations for students seeking small scale renewable energy skills.

The Renewable Energy Technology program produces graduates trained as instrumentation and control technicians who have a high level of mechanical skills as well as specific skills in wind and solar installations. The program allows for electives in related disciplines such as construction, business, geographical information systems (GIS) and information technology. Small wind turbines and residential solar installations have also been included for students seeking small scale renewable energy skills. Renewable energy technology students at Casper College may also pursue careers in the growing component manufacturing industries. Casper College, with the assistance from industry professionals on the program’s advisory board, also constantly monitor the regional job market so that training in other alternative energy technologies, such as geothermal electric generation and biofuels, can be offered when appropriate.
