Win scholarships, gain free help at Casper College FAFSA Event, Feb. 17

The Casper College Financial Aid Office will host a FAFSA completion event on Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Walter H. Nolte Gateway Center, Room 222, on the Casper College campus.
Financial aid team members will be available to assist students with their FAFSA submissions. All current and prospective Casper College students are encouraged to attend.
“Completing the FAFSA helps students access the financial resources that make attending college possible,” said Melissa Roberson, financial aid counselor at Casper College. “We encourage students to submit their FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, as early as they can and to reach out to the Casper College Financial Aid office if they need help.”
Why You Should Attend: Scholarships, Grants, and Support
Currently, two FAFSA forms are available: the 2025–26 FAFSA for the current academic year and the 2026–27 FAFSA for the upcoming academic year beginning in fall 2026. Students are encouraged to complete both if applicable. “It’s not too late to file the 2025–26 FAFSA, and it’s a great time to get started on the 2026–27 FAFSA,” noted Roberson. Since some types of aid are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, submitting the FAFSA as early as possible can improve a student’s chances of receiving available funding.
Key benefits of attending include:
- Expert Guidance: Financial aid experts will be on-site to answer questions.
- Win Scholarships: Attendees will have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win scholarships for the spring 2026 semester.
- Early Access: Submitting early improves chances of receiving funds awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Refreshments: Light refreshments will be provided.
“This free event is a great opportunity to get assistance and potentially secure additional scholarship funds,” Roberson said.
The FAFSA is an application managed by the U.S. Department of Education. The FAFSA is used to determine a student’s eligibility for federal financial aid, including grants, loans, and work-study programs. A completed FAFSA is required to access these funds, and many states and colleges use FAFSA information to award institutional scholarships and state grants. Thus, all students, even those who think they won’t get any aid, are urged to fill out the FAFSA.
For those who prefer to complete the FAFSA form on their own, visit the Federal Student Aid website. When filling out the form, students should use Casper College’s school code: 003928. For assistance, contact the Casper College Financial Aid Office at 307-268-2323 or visit the Casper College Enrollment Services Office on the third floor of the Nolte Gateway Center.
