Enjoy the brisk November weather and embrace learning with community education classes at Casper College. Classes include “Gnome Shelf Sitter,” “Meditation Modalities,” “Strategize Your Finances,” “Art of Butterfly Preservation,” “Paper Collage,” and more.

“The Casper College Community Education Department provides a wealth of learning opportunities, for which I am thankful,” said Zhanna Gallegos. “It unlocks new experiences and widens our horizons, enabling us to adapt and flourish in an ever-changing world,” added Gallegos, community education coordinator at Casper College.

Instructor Lucinda Canchola will help students get festive with a lovable shelf-sitting gnome in the class “Gnome Shelf Sitter.” “Made from everyday materials and decorated with faux-fur beards and fabric hats, these little guys are sure to delight. They may even bring a bit of good luck,” said Canchola. Students are asked to bring a pair of new white socks, a pair of brightly colored fuzzy printed socks, a small bag of rice, a piece of faux fur, embellishments, glue sticks, and an optional glue gun. The class will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Participants will learn how to jump-start their day in “Meditation Modalities.” According to Jane Sutton, instructor, the class will feature several types of meditation that fit into hectic lifestyles, allowing each person to find the best way to meditate. If anyone has stress, health issues, or simply wants to grow in any facet, meditation is for them, said Sutton. The class will take place on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Students are asked to bring a blanket, pillow or meditation cushion.

“Strategize Your Finances” will help participants discover factors impacting their ability to achieve financial goals as they delve into budget and financial strategies and examine their money personality through games and discussions. “Students will learn how to match their number planning with their spending behavior and design a personalized framework of how to navigate their financial life and grow long-term wealth,” said Jessica Pratt, instructor. The class will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7 and 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Learn techniques for preparing and mounting butterflies, from properly pinning the butterfly and positioning it for display in the class “Art of Butterfly Preservation” on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m.-noon. Instructor Brittany Elliott will discuss the tools needed for butterfly mounting and the importance of proper specimen care. Students will gain practical knowledge in this fascinating art form and take home a beautifully mounted butterfly. No prior experience is required, and supplies, including butterfly mounting kits, are provided. Register by Thursday, Nov. 9, to participate in this fascinating class.

Finally, longtime continuing education instructor India Hayford will present “Paper Collage.” Students will learn the tricks and tips for assembling a collage and experiment with composition line, texture, and color as each person constructs their own personal narrative. While basic supplies are provided, participants are asked to bring magazines, personal photos, and other paper products to create unique works of art. The class will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
