Certified Nurse Educator
I began teaching in the nursing program at Casper College in 2000. I earned my Master's degree in 2005 from the University of Wyoming, and my Certification in Nursing Education from the National League for Nursing later that year. My past experience includes some medical-surgical and extended-care nursing, public health nursing with a pediatric and high-risk maternal-child focus, and background in early intervention and child development.
I teach several online courses in the fall semester including Issues in Nursing for Level I students, as well as Health Care and Services and Medical Terminology. In the spring semester I team-teach Nursing Process IV for the Level II students, and Nursing Process and the Childbearing Family for Level I students. Throughout the school year, I take Level II students to Wyoming Medical Center for their obstetric and pediatric rotation. I also co-sponsor our very active Student Nurses' Association.
My wonderful husband and I enjoy spending time with our four grown children and their spouses, especially when we can go camping or travel together. Reading and gardening are my extra curricular activities, however I am the delighted recipient of a fly rod from my children, and so have been learning the fine art of fly-casting. During the summer, I also work as the nurse for KEY Camp (Knowledge Enrichment for Youth) here at Casper College where I stay in the dorm for 3 week-long sessions with 126 terrific children and 12 awesome college student counselors.
