The Casper College Band welcomes special guest, the Dean Morgan Advanced Band, in concert Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Wheeler Concert Hall.

The two bands will perform selections individually and then combine at the end of the concert. The concert will begin with the DMAB performing two selections: “Gently Touch the Sky, Op. 74” by Robert Sheldon and “Aces of the Sky” by Christina Huss. The DMAB is under the direction of Toby Clouser.

The CCB, under the direction of Joshua R. Mietz, DMA, will follow with three selections: “Mother Goose March” by John Philip Sousa, Persuasion” by Sammy Nestico, featuring Zachary Tolman on alto saxophone, and “First Symphony for Band” by Frank Erickson.

Together, the two bands will perform Erickson’s “Air for Band” and “Wildhorse Canyon” by Ben Blessing. “The concert is intended to inspire young people who may have an interest in band music to start playing or who may have left band music and need a gentle push to return, or have always enjoyed it,” said Mietz. “We are hoping to inspire our young musicians to keep playing and our older musicians to mentor the younger ones.”
