The Red Peak Gallery in downtown Casper is celebrating the beginning of the summer season and the First Thursday Art Walk with a reception Thursday, June 5, from 5-8 p.m. featuring Casper College instructor and author Chad Hanson.
The Wild Horse Effect
Hanson’s latest book, “The Wild Horse Effect: Awe, Well-Being, and the Transformative Power of Nature,” was recently released by Chronicle Books. Hanson will sign copies of the hardback book on sale that night, thanks to Wind City Books, and limited edition prints taken by Hanson will be available for purchase.
Artwalk Evening
The evening will begin at 5 with music by Cory McDaniel Duo and special guest musician, guitarist and bass player Mike Magee. Hanson’s presentation will start at 6 p.m. Hanson received a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council to support the exhibit of photographs from the book at The Red Peak Gallery.
About Chad Hanson
In addition to his teaching duties at Casper College, Hanson is the cofounder of the Wyoming Mustang Institute. “The Wyoming Mustang Institute works to ensure healthy and stable wild horse populations on public land through research, media outreach, and informational events,” said Hanson.
Critic Reviews
Critics have been moved by Hanson’s beautiful coffee-table book, interspersed with stunning photographs of the mustangs he writes about living their best lives in the wilds of Wyoming. A sample of reviews includes Psychology Today: “Landmark book.” Minneapolis/St Paul: “So much more than a coffee-table book … to call it that would be to underrepresent the thought-provoking implications.” Equustyle: “Power and Beauty.” EcoLit Books: “Though its beauty makes The Wild Horse Effect a quintessential ‘coffee table book,’ Hanson’s perspective as a sociologist makes it much more than that.”
