An outstanding lineup of top security experts will present at the Rocky Mountain Cybersecurity Symposium, RMCS 2025, on June 18-20 in Liesinger Hall on the Casper College Campus.

“The Rocky Mountain Cyber Security Symposium, RMCS 2025, isn’t just a cybersecurity conference. It’s a community event, said Kent Brooks, director of information technology at Casper College. “Our RMCS Cyber Security Awareness Solutions track is designed specifically for nontechnical audiences — teachers, parents, seniors, students, and everyday users who need the tools and knowledge to protect themselves,” he added.

This year’s headliners include former CIA Senior Intelligence Officer Peter Warmka, Roger Grimes, computer security consultant, Mishaal Khan, a highly respected figure in cybersecurity, with expertise in ethical hacking, Ben Halpert, founder of the nonprofit Savvy Cyber Kids, Kathy Stokes, director of fraud prevention programs with the AARP Fraud Watch Network, and others.

Awareness Track sessions include:

  • Why Are You Messing With Me? — Warmka will look at the dangers of social media.
  • Scam and Fraud Prevention — Stokes will explain how scams target seniors, schools, and families and what proactive steps we can take.
  • Raising Digital Citizens — Halpert will provide strategies and tools to help parents and educators raise digitally responsible kids, starting in pre-K.

The cost per person for the three-day training event is $150, and the fee includes breakfast, lunch, breaks, and more. Scholarships are available for those who want to participate in the full event, but may not have the funds.

A preconference is also open and will run before the symposium. A free “Cybersecurity Awareness Workshop for Educators” will be held on Tuesday, June 17. A separate registration is required for this event, which runs from 8 a.m. to noon. The workshop, led by Tim Walsh, will provide educators with practical strategies to recognize threats, protect student data, and foster a culture of digital safety in classrooms and across campuses, according to Brooks. Walsh is a senior vice president and corporate strategic advisor for the United States’ Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

On Tuesday afternoon from 1-4:30 p.m., a free ransomware tabletop exercise will be held. There is no charge to participate, but a separate registration is required. Rubrik, 954 Consultants, and Casper College encourage all public sector employees to join their peers to experience a ransomware attack and work with pros to strategize real-world solutions in a fully immersive tabletop exercise.

Registrations are being taken through Monday, June 16. For more information about the conference, go to rmcscon.com or contact Brooks at 307-268-2703 or kent.brooks@caspercollege.edu.
