The “Creative Art and Musical Festival” is set for Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sponsored by the Natrona Collective Health Trust, David Street Station, and Casper College, the festival is designed for artists, performers, vendors, coordinators, and volunteers aged 20 and under.

The new event is the brainchild of Whitney Asay, David Street Station executive director. “This idea stemmed from my time working with teenagers at Kelly Walsh. I had a creative group that met, and a few students who were starting their own businesses in high school. I also run an event called Funky Junk that celebrates entrepreneurs, artisans, musicians and local food trucks,” said Asay.

Pulling from her time at Kelly Walsh High School, the school’s “Rodstock” event, and Funky Junk, Whitney came up with the idea of the “Creative Art and Musical Festival” for young people to … “get involved with the community, share their talents with others, learn how to manage a booth and small business, learn new skills like working with sound, event coordination, merchandising, and hopefully make some money at the same time.”

“This is the perfect event for Casper College to sponsor,” said Makayla Ruebush, director of admissions. According to Ruebush, the event’s goal to “celebrate youth and young adults in Casper” resonates well with the college’s motto of “Students First!” “We are excited to help David Street Station launch this new and exciting festival that appeals to the youth who are the doers and helpers in our community,” Ruebush added.
