Towels, baklava, detectors, dragons, investing, and dance explored in June

June classes through Casper College Community Education include Citrus Tea Towel, Baklava Bliss, Modern Metal Detectors, Discover “Dungeons and Dragons,” Investing Made Simple, Discover Dance: Contemporary, and more.
“Casper College’s Community Education program is thrilled to present a wide range of exciting classes this June. Participants can dive into fun experiences and discover something new with our summer community education classes,” said Zhanna Gallegos, community education coordinator at Casper College. According to Gallegos, whether a person is drawn to the outdoors and nature, interested in cooking and the arts, or searching for a unique Father’s Day gift, there’s something here for everyone.
Citrus Tea Towel will allow participants to give their kitchen a great a” peel” with vibrant citrus-printed tea towels, according to Gallegos. Under Lucinda Canchola’s instruction, each person will create custom stamps using lemons, limes, and oranges to decorate the towels with unique patterns. Participants are asked to bring tea towels, preferred citrus fruit, and fabric or acrylic paint. “Get ready to infuse your space with a splash of color!” exclaimed Canchola. Selected supplies will be provided for Citrus Tea Towel, which is suitable for all levels. The class will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Make yummy Greek desserts in Baklava Bliss on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Taught by Svetlana Simurdak, students will make delicious baklava from scratch from layering delicate phyllo sheets with a cinnamon-nut filling to drizzling it with honey syrup. In addition to discovering the secrets behind this mouthwatering dessert, students will explore new desserts and international recipes. Supplies are provided, and those with nut allergies are asked to inform Casper College Community Education.
Metal detecting can be a fun hobby, and Modern Metal Detectors will show you the way. Taught by Perry Hershberger and Perry Hanson, participants will explore machine specifications and tools for various types of “hunting,” as well as proper equipment use and maintenance. “We’ll discuss the correct plug-digging techniques and demonstrate how to find coins, jewelry, and relics,” said Hershberger. Participants will “Uncover hidden treasures in the field during the second and third classes,” noted Hanson. Everyone is asked to bring their own metal detector. The instructors will cover equipment options and locations in the first class. Modern Metal Detectors will be held on two Saturdays, June 7 and 14, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 15, from 1-3:30 p.m.
Discover the fundamentals of the popular game “Dungeons and Dragons” with instructor Dustin Arellano. During the class, students will learn how to create and advance characters using an introductory 5e D&D module and learn the basics of being a game master, including player engagement and gameplay balance, according to Arellano. The class is open to those 14 and older, but a responsible adult must accompany those under 16, and each participant must register individually. Discover “Dungeons and Dragons” will run on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 June 16, 18, 23, 25, and 30. All supplies are provided.
Over two nights, Grant Murphy will help students confidently navigate investments and establish a strong foundation for making informed decisions in Investing Made Simple. Students will … “discover a range of public investment options, such as CDs, Treasurys, corporate and municipal bonds, and stocks,” said Murphy. The class will also cover investment vehicles, including mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, separately managed accounts, and various types of investment accounts, including individual, joint, individual retirement, and 401(k). Investing Made Simple will be held Monday, June 23 and 30, from 5:30-7 p.m.
Finally, energize your mind and body with contemporary dance movements in Discover Dance: Contemporary, taught by Anthony Gamroth. “Students will learn foundational techniques such as floor work, traveling steps, and simple choreography,” said Gamroth. Students will enjoy an effective workout, improve strength and flexibility, and have fun. Discover Dance: Contemporary will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. every Tuesday, June 24 through July 29. The class is suitable for all levels, but street shoes are not permitted.
