An array of fun and unique classes is offered for March through Casper College Community Education.

March classes include Video Editing Simplified, Acrylics Exploration, Novice Trick Dog, Barreling Precision Rifles, Stained Glass: 3-D Cactus, and more. “Although the weather in March can be unpredictable, you can always count on a great selection of community education classes at Casper College,” said Zhanna Gallegos, community education coordinator at Casper College.

According to Gallegos, Video Editing Simplified will enhance each participant’s video creation skills for platforms like YouTube, Odyssey, and Facebook using DaVinci Resolve, a top-notch free editing software. During the class, students will learn essential techniques, including color correction, special effects, adding titles and music, and discover how to format their video for streaming sites or personal use, according to instructor Mark Pruitt. The four-week class will meet on Monday, March 3-24, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

For those who enjoyed Beginning Acrylics or a similar class, Acrylics Exploration is for you. Under instructor Corinne Driscoll’s direction, students will learn to refine their style as they experiment with new ideas while unlocking the secrets of layering, impasto, blending, and more to take their acrylic painting skills to the next level. Supplies are provided for the two-week class, which will meet on Tuesday, March 18 and 25, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

If you have a dog who loves to steal the spotlight, enroll them in Novice Trick Dog. During the class, students will learn how to teach their dog 20 tricks and be recognized as a Novice AKC Trick Dog. “From high-fives to spins, your pup will shine as the center of attention at any gathering,” said Gallegos. Taught by the staff of Sit Means Sit, registration is one person per dog. All participants are asked to sign a liability release, bring proof of rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccinations, and ensure their dog is friendly and nonreactive to other people and dogs. The class will be held on Wednesday, March 19, from 6:15-7:45 p.m.

Barreling Precision Rifles is a class for those wanting to complete a barreled precision rifle action that is ready for finishing and installation in their chosen stock. Instructor Toyon Wiggs will cover shop safety, measuring tools, everyday precision rifle actions, strategies for headspace determination, barrel indication methods, and more. Students are asked to bring their rifle action, bolt, barrel blank, and thread protector.

According to Gallegos, consumable machine tools and specialty tooling will be provided. No loaded ammunition is allowed, and rifles will undergo inspection prior to disassembly. Students must be 18 or older and have taken Firearm Machine Shop Fundamentals, earned a machine tool certificate, or gotten permission from Wiggs to take Barreling Precision Rifles. The class will run Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 21-29.

Finally, participants are invited to explore the fundamentals of designing stained glass sculptures in Stained Glass: 3-D Cactus. Participants will be able to get creative as they craft several cacti with instructor Michelle Bahe. Tools are provided for student use, but students must provide their own glass and supplies, which are available for purchase in the studio or from a source of their choice. Stained Glass: 3-D Cactus is suitable for intermediate to advanced level students only, and Stained Glass: All Levels or Stained Glass: Beginners is a prerequisite. The class will meet on Monday, March 24 through April 14, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Community education offers noncredit courses for personal enrichment and lifelong learning for people 16 and older. To sign up or for more information on these and other classes, click here or call 307-268-3401.
