The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Casper College, OLLI, needs an additional six members to reach a total of 500 members for 2020 and qualify for its endowment from the Bernard Osher Foundation.

“We find ourselves just six members short of our membership goal for this fiscal year, and we only have until Tuesday, June 30, to meet that goal, “ said Jeaneece Schmidt, lifelong learning specialist.

That yearly goal was first met in 2009 when the 500 member goal was achieved, and OLLI at Casper College was awarded a $1 million endowment gift from the foundation. One of the requirements of the foundation is that every OLLI group has a minimum of 500 members each year.

The cost of membership is only $60 a year and includes five complimentary classes that can be redeemed through the end of the 2020 membership year, which ends in December. There are still several classes available in the summer semester, and this year’s fall semester includes 66 different classes and special events. Class categories include arts, crafts and hobbies; culinary; health and wellness; history; life and leisure; and science and technology. OLLI at Casper College offers courses designed primarily for adults age 50+.
