Registration, for self-paced classes on Microsoft Office 2019 suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access at Casper College’s Flex Lab, for the fall 2019 semester is now taking place.

With the release of Office 2019, the Flex Lab is an excellent choice for anyone to update their skills in Microsoft Office’s updated suite. “Some employers upgrade with each new version and some leapfrog versions if they’re using freestanding software. That means people whose workplaces are moving from 2013 or 2016 to 2019 will also have the new versions,” said Marjorie Anderson, Flex Lab director and business information systems instructor. According to Anderson, compatibility issues can occur as well if the software is too old compared to the software used in emails and work by other individuals and companies.

Not only will those who enroll upgrade their skills by training in the newest version, but they will also be able to work with an earlier version. “People who have not taken a course in a long time often choose to take a class because they are unaware of new features. This is a good way to beef up a resume in a relatively short amount of time. It also makes people more productive and more functional with the software they’re using for work, home and/or school,” Anderson noted.

Beginning to advanced classes are offered in the Flex Lab. Classes can be taken for one credit and completed in five weeks, but students can finish in less time or take more time to finish if needed. “The Flex Lab allows students to work at their own pace, and there is always an experienced instructor in the lab to offer support,” said Anderson.

Beginning with the fall semester, the Flex Lab will be open on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-8 p.m. The lab is also open on Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-1.p.m, and Friday from 9-11 a.m.
