Job Summary and Responsibilities:
The Work-Study Student Assistant at the Veterans Resource Center (VRC) plays a vital role in supporting the center’s operations and helping veteran students and their families navigate available resources. This position provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in a supportive, professional environment while contributing to the success and well-being of the veteran student community. The ideal candidate will be a reliable, organized, and compassionate individual with a commitment to serving others and an interest in working in a dynamic and inclusive setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Greet and assist visitors to the VRC, including veteran students, their families, community members, along with all other student populations that utilize the VRC.
Answer phone calls and emails, providing accurate information or directing inquiries to the appropriate staff member.
Administrative Assistance:
Perform general office tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining student records.
Help with the preparation and distribution of informational materials and resources related to veterans’ benefits and services.
Event Support:
Assist with organizing and setting up/tearing down events, workshops, and seminars hosted by/in the VRC and the Veterans Services Coordinator. Help with registration, check-in, and event logistics to ensure smooth operations. This will also include staffing tables at on/off campus events.
Resource Coordination:
Aid in managing and updating resources, such as flyers, brochures, and educational materials related to veterans’ benefits and services.
Assist with maintaining the VRC’s resource library and ensuring it is current and well-organized.
Data Management:
Support the collection and entry of data related to veteran student services, events, and outreach activities.
Help prepare reports and track metrics as needed.
Student Engagement:
Engage with veteran students to gather feedback and understand their needs, providing support and assistance as required.
Collaborate with the Veteran Services Coordinator to address any issues or concerns raised by veteran students.
Miscellaneous Duties:
Perform other tasks and projects as assigned by the Veteran Services Coordinator or other staff members.
Maintain a professional and confidential work environment, respecting the privacy and sensitivity of veteran students’ information.
Work Schedule:
Up to 19 hours per week, with a flexible schedule based on the student’s availability and the needs of the VRC.
The VRC is open Mon-Fri 0800-1700 (or later depending on student needs and work-study availability)

Minimum Qualifications:
Degree-seeking student, enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at CC or a partnership institution. Qualifications:
Current enrollment as a student at Casper College
Eligibility for Federal Work-Study funding.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer service-oriented attitude.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other office software.
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate and confidential records.
Enthusiasm for working in a supportive role and helping others, especially veteran students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with veteran benefits and services is a plus.
Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role is advantageous.
