The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute — OLLI at Casper College is offering a food preservation class beginning Tuesday, Sept. 22, and continuing Sept. 29 and Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The class, “Food Preservation: Can, Dehydrate, Ferment,” will be taught by Leah Hays. “At the end of the gardening season, we still have an abundance of produce that we cannot cram into the fridge or freezer,” said Hays. To help prevent waste, participants will learn how to preserve food by canning, dehydrating, and fermentation.

According to Hays, the class will include recipes, hands-on experience in each preservation method, and something to take home after each class.

For more information or to register for “Food Preservation: Can, Dehydrate, Ferment,” contact Jeaneece Schmidt, lifelong learning specialist, at 307-268-2099 or jeaneece.schmidt@caspercollege.edu.
