A variety of interesting classes will be offered in December through Casper College’s Community Education Department. Class topics include Freedom in Retirement, Flexagons for Fun, Resin Holiday Gifts, Polymer Clay Jewelry, and many more.

“Spread holiday cheer with the gift of lifelong learning! Treat your loved ones to a community education class experience. Gift certificates are available in any amount for ages 18 and up and may be used toward any class tuition or fees,” said Zhanna Gallegos, community education coordinator at Casper College.

Planning to retire in 2026? Learn how to navigate the current retirement opportunities and challenges as you gain insight into economic and political changes in Freedom in Retirement. Learn about tax cuts, Social Security protections, and market policies to make informed decisions. Instructor Todd Durdahl will help you discover how to maximize Social Security benefits, make tax-efficient savings, and understand the difference between tax evasion and tax avoidance. You will also explore strategies for lasting retirement income, maximizing your 401(k), and protecting your portfolio from unnecessary taxes to take charge of your financial future. Freedom in Retirement will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 5:30-7 p.m.

Discover the world of flexagons in Flexagons for Fun, taught by Daniel Cooper. Flexagons, folded paper objects with unique properties, can be used as toys, gifts, educational tools, or even holiday decorations. “We’ll explore their history and theory, then create both preprinted and custom-made flexagons,” said Cooper. Participants are asked to bring unlined paper, a cutting board or thick newspaper, a sharp knife or box cutter, scissors, glue sticks, markers, pens, or crayons to this class, which is suitable for all levels. Flexagons for Fun will be held Friday, Dec. 5 and 12, from 6-7:30 p.m.

Resin Holiday Gifts, taught by Danielle Wilson and Katie Lijewski, will allow participants to get creative with resin crafting this holiday season. Held Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and 7, from 1-3 p.m., students will explore the differences between epoxy and UV resin, their compatibility with additives, and how to choose the right type for their project. Hands-on experience will be gained using alcohol inks, mica powders, and pigments. Students will create a six-ring binder cover and a UV resin pen, perfect as gifts, according to Gallegos. Supplies for Resin Holiday Gifts, which is open to all levels, will be provided. Tools and safety equipment will be available for students to use, and safety precautions for handling both uncured and cured resin will be taught.

Polymer Clay Jewelry will give students the chance to maximize their creativity by crafting custom beads in their preferred colors and designs. Instructor Gina Stephens will teach students how to condition lightweight polymer clay and then cut, shape, and bake their pieces. According to Stephens, students will be able to create unique beads with floral, geometric, or textured designs and assemble them into wearable art. Polymer Clay Jewelry will be held Saturday, Dec. 6 and 13 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. All supplies and tools are provided, and the class is suitable for all levels.
