The behind-the-scenes work necessary for Casper College’s presidential search has resulted in naming a multifaceted group of people to serve on the presidential search committee.

Those selected from Casper College include Dave Applegate, vice chair of the board of trustees; Kathy Dolan, board trustee; Steve Degenfelder, chair of the board of trustees; Rhonda Franzen, director of human resources; Amanda Nelson, chair of the faculty alliance; Falon Cole, chair of the staff alliance; Sara Pederson, chair of the administrative alliance; Shani Osorio-Acala, president of the student senate; and Rachel Chadderdon, dean of the School of Business and Industry and Workforce Services.

Members selected from the community include the Honorable W. Thomas Sullins, board member, Casper College Foundation; Ryan Hieb, president, Casper College Alumni Association; Lance Porter, CEO, Banner Wyoming Medical Center; Bill DeGraeve, director of drilling, True Companies; and Aaron Wilson, principal, Natrona County School District.

“The board,” said Degenfelder, “expresses its deepest gratitude to those who have agreed to serve.”

Angela Provart, president of Casper College’s search consultant, the Pauly Group, will visit the college on October 15, 22, and 23 to hear from groups of people about what is needed in the next president of Casper College. According to Degenfelder, the full schedule will be announced within the next week, and the first search committee meeting will occur sometime during the above dates.

The board of trustees for Casper College and Pauly Group, the school’s search consultant, have begun some behind-the-scenes work on the presidential search. Below is a list of tentative dates in the process:

  • August/September, 2024 — The Casper College board of trustees will begin reaching out to various college and community stakeholder groups to serve on the Presidential Search Committee to assist the trustees in evaluating potential candidates.
  • October 15-17, 2024 — Angela Provart, president of Pauly Group, will be on campus attending the board of trustees meeting and meeting with forums to discuss the challenges facing Casper College and the characteristics needed in the next president. The details will be announced soon after the fall semester begins.
  • A position profile will be developed based on these conversations.
  • Recruiting for applicants will begin in December with applications due in early February, 2025.
  • The search committee will identify and interview semi-final candidates in mid-February.
  • Final candidates will be at Casper College meeting with the search committee and various constituency groups in late March. Once identified, these dates will be announced.
  • The board of trustees will select a candidate in early April, 2025.
  • The selected candidate will begin in July, 2025.

Casper College will soon begin the search process for the next president of Casper College, and the board of trustees wants to give you a few updates on the process. To assist the board of trustees with the search, we have engaged Pauly Group Inc. This national search consulting firm assists in the recruitment and successful hiring of community college executives.

Details about the process to date follow but are subject to change:

      • August and September 2024 — The board of trustees will begin reaching out to individuals who represent various college and community stakeholders to serve on the Casper College Presidential Search Committee.
      • November 2024 — Angela Provart, president of Pauly Group, will be on campus meeting with forums to discuss Casper College’s challenges and the characteristics needed in the next president. The details will be announced as we get closer to the forums.
      • A position profile will be developed based on these conversations.
      • Recruiting for applicants will begin in December 2024, with applications due in early February 2025.
      • The search committee will identify and interview semi-finalists in mid-February.
      • Final candidates will be at a Casper College meeting with various constituency groups in late March. Once identified, these dates will be announced.
      • The board of trustees will select the final candidate, offer the position, and negotiate a contract in early April.
      • The final candidate will begin in July 2025.
