My bio

Dr. Valerie Innella Maiers teaches art history and museum studies in the Visual Arts Department of Casper College in Wyoming. She also directs the Casper College Goodstein Art Gallery, is the CC NASAD institutional representative, and leads student art history seminars abroad. She has a B.A. and M.A. in art history and a Ph.D. in art education with a specialization in museum education.

Recent lectures by Dr. Innella Maiers include, "The Campus Art Gallery and Museum Studies Curriculum: A Partnership in Student Service Learning” at the Southeastern College Art Conference (September 2008); “How the Institution of Patronage has Shaped Art: The Crafting of Ideas” at the Casper College Humanities Festival (March 2008); “Landscape and Nature in the Visual Arts” at the Nicolaysen Art Museum (February 2008); “Teaching for Visual Literacy” at the Early Childhood Educators Conference (October 2006); and “Sage and Sagebrush: Teaching in Wyoming” at the College Art Association Conference (February 2006. Juried publications include “A spiral of learning in museums” as an NAEA Advisory (Summer 2007) and “Manipulation of the family photo album: A commentary on Esther Parada’s Transplant, A Tale of Three Continents” in Art Education Journal (March 2004).
