RedStone Recital and Gallery Series launches ‘The 10th Season’

Friday evening, Sept. 23, the Casper College RedStone Recital and Gallery Series presents a free evening of art, music, and literary readings.

The series launches its 10th season with an evening of artworks by Casper College art faculty titled “A Celebration: The Casper College Visual Arts Faculty Exhibition.” The show features work from Carli Holcomb, art instructor; Shawn Bush, photography instructor; Michael Olson, ceramics instructor; Justin Hayward, drawing and painting instructor; and Cynthia Harrison, graphic design instructor.

The exhibition reception for the visual arts faculty will begin at 6 p.m. in the Mildred Zahradnicek Art Gallery.

Literary readings will follow the exhibition reception at 6:30 p.m. by English instructors Cara Rodriguez and Joseph Campbell. Both will read from their original works.

Immediately following the literary readings will be the music faculty in recital in Wheeler Concert Hall. The recital will feature the performance of five compositions. “Eye of the Storm” with Gary DePaolo on viola and Jennifer DePaolo on violin in collaboration with Carli Holcomb and her visual art piece “Tempest.”

Joshua R. Mietz, clarinet; Richard Turner, bassoon; and Delores Thornton, flute; will collaborate on “Fragments (1960).” Soprano Veronica Turner with Paula Flynn on piano, will present “New England Songs.” Flynn will perform again in collaboration with Spanish instructor Eric Atkins on “Chants d’Espagne, op 232, no 4 Córdoba.” The evening will end with “Black Dog,” performed by Mietz and Flynn in collaboration with Harrison.

Both the Zahradnicek Gallery and Wheeler Concert Hall are located in the Music Building on the Casper College campus.
