Tara Goltermann, a teacher with the Early Childhood Learning Center at Casper College, has been named the Employee of the Year for 2018-2019 by the Wyoming Association of Community College Trustees.

“Tara is responsible for following our comprehensive national accreditation standards and completing a portfolio with documentation that proves her classroom practices meet the required criteria. Tara (takes) her work here very seriously, and she has grown professionally,” said Donna Sonesen, director of the ECLC.

According to Sonesen, Goltermann has learned and implemented a Reggio Emilia inspired Emergent Curriculum approach to teaching, presented at various workshops for childcare conferences, and volunteered evenings to participate in both program and local activities. “Tara’s knowledge and experience have assisted her in becoming not only a wonderful teacher but a real team player both within and outside of our program,” Sonesen said.

Goltermann began at Casper College as a work-study teacher assistant at the ECLC in August 1999. She then became a part-time temporary teacher assistant, closing the center nightly while working on her Associate of Science degree from Casper College and then her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wyoming at Casper with both degrees in early childhood education. In August 2004, Goltermann was hired by the ECLC full-time as a lead teacher.
