Casper College now has three designated parking spaces on campus for Purple Heart recipients. The designated spots and signs are located at the Walter H. Nolte Gateway Building and the Wold Physical Science Center parking lots, and the parking lot to the south of the Goodstein Foundation Library.

“Knowing that we had Purple Heart recipients on campus, we thought that this would be a great way not only to honor these folks but to help give them better access when they did not have it before, and to raise awareness of the sacrifices of our veterans,” said Nick Whipps, special population coordinator.

Those who have been awarded a Purple Heart by a branch of the United States armed forces, but who do not have a Purple Heart designation on their license plate need to stop by the Casper College Campus Security office located in Strausner Hall, Room 204, with their VA card. Security will then note the license plate number and vehicle.

The parking signs and locations were made possible thanks to the efforts of the Wounded Warriors Family Support Organization, Casper College Veterans Services, Casper College Security, and the Casper College Physical Plant.
