The Casper College Thunderbirds have announced the signing of 6-foot-8 New Zealand native Jackson Stent. Stent spent this past season at Nicholls State University as a red-shirt for the Colonels. The 210-pound skilled forward is joining a very talented front line for head coach Dan Russell and the T-Bird men’s basketball program.

Before arriving at Nicholls State University, Stent spent three years at Westlake High School before playing his senior season at Middleton Grange School. He was a member of the Canterbury Rams developmental league and the Mainland Eagles Academy. Stent represented New Zealand, North Harbour and Canterbury age group teams.

The ultra-skilled and athletic stretch forward was also a member of the 2015 undefeated Middleton-Christchurch championship team, which finished fifth among National Secondary Schools, the highest finish in school history and he also led Westlake to a national runner-up finish in 2014, and a Boys High School National Championship in 2013.

“We are extremely excited to add Jackson to our roster for this upcoming season as he fits a need that we really had,” Russell said of the Kiwi joining the program. “He is very athletic with a high skill level and his ability to shoot the ball with range is something that we needed to add to our front court.”

Russell and his staff have signed nine new players this spring to the 2016-2017 roster, which includes three international players now with 6-foot-10 Antun Mericevic from Croatia and 6-foot-3 Levy Mayunga Miguel from Angola.
