My bio

A little about me…I was born and raised in Sheridan, WY and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1993. I attended the University of Wyoming and earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1997. From Laramie, I went to Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS to pursue a master’s degree in clinical psychology. I graduated in December 1999 and worked as a Licensed Master’s Level Psychologist on an in-patient psychiatric unit for two years in Kansas. Wyoming was calling me back, and in November 2001, I returned to the University of Wyoming to work as the Area Coordinator for Leadership Development in Residence Life. While at UW, I pursued a doctorate in Counselor Education and graduated with a Ph.D. in August 2007. From then until June 2012, I worked as the Associate Director in the Wyoming Union at UW. In that position, I oversaw the Campus Activities Center, the Service, Leadership, & Community Engagement Office, and taught leadership courses through the College of Education. I also maintained a small private counseling practice while in Laramie, and I hold a Licensed Professional Counselor license in the State of Wyoming.

I moved to Casper in July 2012 and began teaching in the Psychology Department that August. Teaching at Casper College is truly a dream job for me as I love teaching, working with students, and being on a college campus. I try to incorporate service-learning into my courses whenever possible as I believe service not only gives students real-world application of the course material, but also broadens students’ perspectives in terms of learning multicultural and social issues and community engagement.

I absolutely love being back in Wyoming because just about everything I love to do is right here! I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, running, and photography. My partner and I also have a garden each year and enjoy making homemade salsa and canning other veggies. I also enjoy going to local and professional plays and performances, and spending time with my family in Sheridan.

When I can, I enjoy volunteering in the community and especially working with local animal rescues and the humane society. We have three dogs….Sadie (short-haired border collie), Bella (Pekingese), and Lulu (a 14 year-old, foster, part Pekingese and part Chow?). All are rescue dogs.
