Spring Jazz Night features famous songs from past greats April 22

The spring Casper College Jazz Night concert on April 22 will feature famous songs by past greats, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Wheeler Concert Hall. The night will begin with the Casper College Contemporary Singers, followed by the Casper College Jazz Ensemble, and will end with both groups performing together.

The Casper College Contemporary Singers, under the direction of Zachary Vreeman, DMA, will perform classics including “Route 66”; “Here’s That Rainy Day,” featuring solos by Lindsey Scott and Owen Lacount; Johnny Mercer’s “Autumn Leaves,” featuring a solo by Eva Vreeman; “Minecraft”; “Big Yellow Taxi”; and “That’s All.”

The Casper College Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Joshua R. Mietz, DMA, will perform “Late Date” and “On the Sunny Side of the Street.” The two groups will then perform the classic George Gershwin tune “Embraceable You,” followed by “Garaje Gato” by Gordon Goodwin, “Tricotism” by Oscar Pettiford, “A Love Supreme” by John Coltrane, and “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Louis Prima.

“Jazz Night” is free and open to the public. The Wheeler Concert Hall is located in the Music Building on the Casper College campus.

The concert will also be shown on YouTube for those who would like to watch but are unable to attend in person.
