The 30th Annual Casper College Wellness Conference is asking members of the Wyoming prevention, treatment, and therapeutic communities to share their knowledge during the conference April 4-6 at the college.

According to Joanne Theobald, director of counseling, presentations running 80 minutes in length will take place on the first two days of the conference while the final and third day will feature two half- or one full-day presentation geared toward helping professionals.

“This three-day activity endeavors to provide current, relevant information on wellness and substance-related issues to all who are interested. It also allows mental health and medical professionals, as well as students in those areas, to network with one another, while collecting contact hours for licensure and certification,” said Theobald.

Participants from the 2017 conference suggested a number of presentation topics including anger management, aromatherapy for mental health, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, how to support the LGBTQ population and guide parents, how trauma is stored in the body, motivation enhancement, neurobiology, reflexology for mental health, relationship between obesity/weight gain and mental illness, spirituality and psychotherapy, the political process and its implications for mental health, and others. Participants have also requested sessions that are experiential and offer skill-building. “As always, we are looking for presentations that break new ground, or are especially relevant and timely,” noted Theobald.

The deadline for turning in proposals is Friday, Feb. 9. For more information or to submit a proposal go to www.caspercollege.edu/events/wellness or contact Theobald at 307-268-2255 or at joannetheobald@caspercollege.edu.
