The Utility Locator Certification class is designed to train and certify utility locators on methods to locate and verify underground utility lines. The locator program was created with funding from One Call of Wyoming. Participants who successfully complete the class earn a Certificate of Locating Competency from our program partner, Staking University, a nationally recognized underground utility locator certification training center. Grants
The Wyoming Public Service Commission is pleased to announce the availability of up to 60 scholarships for individuals to attend the Utility Locator Certification class offered by Casper College. The scholarship will reimburse individuals for tuition upon successful completion of the class, which is available in a classroom-lab format and as a "hybrid" course combining on-line and lab components. Utility Locator Certification: Face-to-Face Class and Lab
Fundamentals of underground utility location will be covered in this class including methods used to change the transmitter current levels and shape of the magnetic field, how to measure the magnetic field with the receiver, and how to produce a round magnetic field and verify depth. Participants who successful complete of this class and corresponding lab will receive a Certificate of Locating Competency through Staking University. Students registering for the Utility Locator class are enrolled automatically in the corresponding lab.

Fundamentals of underground utility location will be covered in this class including methods used to change the transmitter current levels and shape of the magnetic field, how to measure the magnetic field with the receiver, and how to produce a round magnetic field and verify depth. Students registering for ELTR 1545 are automatically enrolled in the corresponding lab.

Students registering for ELTR 1545 Hybrid are automatically enrolled in the corresponding lab. Students must pass the online final exam to be eligible to attend the lab.

The class will cover the fundamentals of underground utility location, methods used to change the transmitter current levels and shape of the magnetic field, how to measure the magnetic field with the receiver, and how to produce a round magnetic field and verify depth.

Equipment
Professionals currently working in the field may bring their own equipment provided it can do both conductive and inductive locating. Equipment will be provided for all students.
