St. Francis in Egypt is a new play that focuses upon many of the questions of our own time: Do Christianity and Islam have anything in common? Why do we let religion divide us as a human family? Why do we still have war in the 21st century? Arthur Giron looked at these questions and focused his thoughts on a little known historical incident in 1219, when that most popular of Catholic saints, Francis, visited Egypt during the fifth crusade and attempted to convert the Sultan of Egypt. Our play will be a rousing experimental historical spectacle you won’t want to miss.
