Scholarship Guidelines

Scholarships are intended to recognize academic and other achievements, to encourage such achievements, and to assist as many qualified students as possible.

Casper College Honor Scholarship - The CC Honor Scholarship pays resident tuition and fees for four consecutive semesters at Casper College. Wyoming high school students that are not Hathaway eligible due to low ACT scores or other unmet requirements that have a cumulative high school G.P.A. of at least 3.00 can be nominated by their high school counseling office for a Casper College Honor Scholarship.  To retain this scholarship each semester, recipients must attempt and earn at least 12 degree credits each semester and earn a GPA of at least 3.00 each semester. (First semester freshmen with GPA's between 2.70 and 3.00 may petition the financial aid office for scholarship retention, providing extenuating circumstances exist). Reapplication is not required.

Casper College Opportunity Award - Wyoming high school students with a cumulative high school G.P.A. between 2.50 and 3.00 that are not eligible for the Hathaway Scholarship can be nominated by their high school counseling office for the Casper College Opportunity Award.  An Opportunity Award will pay tuition and fees for two years at Casper College, provided the recipient maintains a semester and cumulative Casper College G.P.A. of at least 2.00 and completes all the credit hours the student attempts each semester.  Contact your high school counseling office to be nominated for this award.

Academic Division Scholarships - Division scholarships are funded through the generosity of private donors and endowments. This scholarship provides assistance for two years at Casper College. It requires a minimum GPA of 3.00 for consideration. To retain this scholarship, recipients must attempt at least 12 degree credit each semester and earn a GPA of at least 2.50 each semester.

Activity and Athletic Scholarships - These scholarships are awarded by the coaches and sponsors of each activity or sport. Each scholarship requires the recipient to maintain specific eligibility and prescribed participation level requirements to keep the award. Generally, recipients must attempt and earn at least 12 credit hours each semester with a semester GPA of at least 2.00. These scholarships are not guaranteed renewable, but reapplication is permitted.

Richardson Scholarship - Richardson Scholarships are available to graduates of Casper and Cheyenne public high schools. This scholarship provides need-based awards up to $600 or semester ($1200 per year). The award can be utilized for six semesters at Casper College, or a combined total of eight semesters at Casper College and the University of Wyoming. Students who have earned a Bachelor's degree are not eligible for this award. It requires a 2.00 GPA for consideration. To retain this scholarship, recipients must earn a 2.00 GPA earn terms and attempt and earn at least 12 graduation credits each term. Reapplication is required each year.

Other Scholarships - Casper College students receive scholarships from many sources other than those listed above, and most carry eligibility requirements. Casper College is obligated to enforce these requirements. Thus, recipients of such awards are responsible for knowing the requirements for their scholarships.

Multiple Tuition Scholarship Policy - Casper College students can accept only one scholarship designated to pay tuition. Students who are awarded more than one scholarship designated to pay tuition will be asked to choose between the awards.

Total Award Limits - Generally, the total assistance a student may receive is limited to that students' standard cost of attendance, as calculated by the Casper College Financial Aid Office.

Refunds and Repayments - Students who withdraw from all classes are subject to Casper College refund and repayment provisions. Written information detailing these provisions is available from the Financial Aid
