- This Old Grouse
If you enjoyed wildlife viewing last summer you'll love learning about Centrocercus urophasianus, also known as the Sage Grouse, one of Wyoming's most famous and controversial native species. Learn about the habitat of the Sage Grouse and why it is threatened; practice wing identification techniques so you can differentiate between a Blue Grouse and a Sage Grouse. Finally, you will get to see male and female Sage Grouse in action with an early morning field trip to a local Sage Grouse lek—we'll provide the coffee!

This four-week class will look at what the hub-bub was all about between 1930 and June of 1934 when the Motion Picture Production Code began to be enforced in July of 1934. Controversial films of the period will be discussed and screened as part of this class. Films to be shown include "Red-Headed Woman," (1932) and "Baby Face," (1933).

Learn how to locate and identify edible mushrooms easily found at various sites here in Natrona County. Your instructor, a real fun guy, will share tempting recipes using local mushrooms. Finally, we will take a field trip out to a site and look for the mushrooms we learned about in class.

Alpaca farming is becoming a fast-growing occupation for many retirees. In this class you will learn all about alpacas, their roll as pack animals and wool producers in South America, and the background of the alpaca farming movement in the United States. We will also tour an alpaca farm and you'll get to meet Lorelei, the guard llama, who protects the alpacas from predators.
