James Olm is a Composer/Playwright/Director/Educator of Musical Theatre. In the spring of 2007, his new original musical score for the drama Flight was premiered at Casper College, working in collaboration with playwright Arthur Giron. Flight will now be published at Samuel French, Inc. in the near future. In the past two years, he has also composed music for the Casper College productions of As You Like It and The Bacchae of Euripides. His newest original musical, Mary of Magdala, has had a developmental readthrough in New York City in February and October, 2004, and in August, 2006, where Stephen Schwartz was in attendance. In the spring of 2003, his original musical Emerald Green, was developmentally read at the Off-Broadway York Theatre in New York City. He has written two other original musicals: Obits, which premiered at The Duluth Playhouse, and Mulberry. Olm’s commissioned compositional works include choral pieces written for professional and high school choirs and theatre programs in the Midwest, as well as for faculty at UW-Whitewater. Through the years, James has directed over forty musicals and dramas, from professional theatre to community and high school theatre. He is now Coordinator of Musical Theatre at Casper College, Casper, WY.
