English Lab

The English Lab is part of the English Department in the Division of Language and Literature. The Lab serves all students at Casper College and members of the community who wish to improve their language and study skills.

Students using the Lab range from those who are doing well in college but wish to do even better, to those who are having difficulty with their courses because of reading, writing and/or study skills problems.

The English Lab can help you to improve your:
• Reading • Writing • Grammar • Spelling • Vocabulary • Study Skills • Listening Skills • Test Scores • Credit courses or drop-in assistance is available.

Computer-assisted instruction and video/audio learning aids are offered in the following areas:
• Sentence Structure • Punctuation • Paragraph Writing • Spelling • The Research Paper • Test Preparation for: CAT, ACT, SAT, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL • Study Skills • Memory • Reading Strategies • Test-taking Strategies • Note-taking Strategies • Time-management Strategies • Relaxation & Stress • Management Techniques.

Additional Services
The Lab has a variety of audio-visual, printed and computerized learning materials that students may use on a non-credit, drop-in basis. The most used materials concern run-on/fragment sentences, commas and semi-colons, and test-taking strategies.

The Lab also offers learning styles assessments to assist students in developing study strategies that are compatible with individual preferences.

Students wanting assistance with writing projects in other courses, can utilize the services offered at the Writing Center.
