Steps for Veterans or Service Members

G.I. Bill Selection includes:

  • Chapter 30 - Active Duty, can use with other veteran benefits
  • Chapter 1606 - Reserves/ National Guard, can use with other service member benefits (Wyoming National Guard Tuition Assistance WyTAG)
  • Chapter 33 New Post 9/11- Active Duty time after 9/11/01 - Cannot use with other veteran benefits
  • Chapter 31 Vet Success, Vocational Rehabilitation - Cannot use with other veteran benefits
  • VA Work-Study Allowance - Can be used with any chapters for student 3/4 time or more.

1. Select which GI Bill is best to help you meet your educational goals and provide the greatest financial support during your enrollment. If you have entered the military from Wyoming, there are many other veteran benefits available to you from the State of Wyoming. Contact Enrollment Services at ccscholarships@caspercollege.edu or call 307-268-2323 before committing yourself to one chapter. Please keep in mind that the choice you make could be irrevocable.

A. Complete Application for VA Education Benefits on VONAPP

  • Select CREATE A NEW FORM (Education Benefits form 22-1990, VRAP form 22-1990R *new, or Vocation Rehabiliation form 28-1900) *Please keep in mind that the choice you make could be irrevocable.
  • Transferring your GI Bill to a new school/program – Complete the Change of Program/Place of Training form (VA form 22-1995) on VONAPP select CREATE A NEW FORM
    • Required– Please print and submit a copy of your confirmation application with confirmation number to Casper College.
    • Include a copy of your DD-214 or NOBE
    • Include a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility from VA showing which chapter you are eligible for and, if chapter 33, what percentage. Visit EBenefits for documentation.

2. Follow the requirements and procedures for APPLYING as a degree seeking student to Casper College.

A. Submit High School or GED transcript and any college and military transcripts.
Remember to send your Military Transcripts: Joint Services Transcript System , Air Force Transcripts.

B. Submit ACT, SAT or placement test less than one year old.

C. Submit all immunization records to Casper College.

D. Schedule an appointment with an Advisor and register for classes.

3.  Must complete and submit each semester VA/Military Education Certification Request Online if using any VA or military education benefits.

A. The School’s Certifying Official must certify that you are degree seeking and that your classes count towards your degree. It can take 8 to 10 weeks between certification of classes and receipt of first payment. All are urged to financially plan accordingly and apply for other aid options.

4. Remember Veterans and service members using Montgomery GI Bill, GI Bill Selected Reserve, REAP, or VRAP must go online to WAVE or phone in at 1-877-823-2378 to verify your attendance at the end of every month before payment is issued. VA pays at the first of the month for the pervious month. You can visit Casper College Business Office for details of Tuition and Fees payment due dates.

Steps for Military Dependents

G.I. Bill Selection includes:

  • Post 9/11 Chapter 33 Transfer of Education Benefits
  • Survivors & Dependent Education Assistance Chapter 35
  • VA Work-Study Allowance - Can be used with any chapters for student 3/4 time or more.

 

1. Determine dependent eligibility to help you meet your educational goals and provide the greatest financial support during your enrollment. Contact Enrollment Services before committing yourself to one chapter. Please keep in mind that the choice you make could be irrevocable.

A. Post 9/11 Transfer of Education Benefits (TEB) to family members, the Service Member must:

    • Start with the Transferability of Education Benefits (TEB) before leaving the military (Non VA Link- Common Access Card (CAC) or MyPay logon required.
    • To Track the status of your request, you will need to return to the TEB page to check the "STATUS" in the SPONSOR information section. Once approved the status will be updated to REQUEST APPROVED.

B. Complete VONAPP select “Create a New Form”

  •  Required– Please print and submit a copy of your confirmation application with confirmation number to Casper College.
  • Include a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility from VA showing which chapter you are eligible for and, if chapter 33, what percentage. Visit EBenefits for documentation.
