A fifth generation owner of a ranch near Powder River, Karla had lived several different places throughout the country before returning to Casper in 2005. During her travels she worked in several different industries including radio and the gambling industry. In each position she worked closely with the technology used within the industry. In the late 90 she entered the education sector and has been hooked since.
While working at West Chester University, she was a member of a 5 person team reporting to Pennsylvania Governor Ridge (same Tom Ridge who was director of Homeland Security) focusing on the introduction of Internet capability to the school districts in Pennsylvania. She was also a member of the team that implemented and operated SSHEnet, a state wide network connecting the Pennsylvania State University system, providing Intranet, Internet and other connectivity services including video conferencing used for distance learning.
Karla has been involved with both business and educational uses of technology for more years that she cares to admit. A self proclaimed geek she fascinated by the impact technology has on all our lives, and continues to research new technologies and new uses for existing technology. |
