Kathy and her husband John have lived in Casper since 1989. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN, and a MPA from the University of Wyoming. Kathy recently retired after 20 years as an occupational therapist at the Child Development Center of Natrona County.

She has been a University of North Dakota adjunct occupational therapy faculty since 1994, served six years on the Central Wyoming Hospice Board and three years on the Wyoming Occupational Therapy licensing board.
